Terms and Conditions
Version 2026-10-06 · effective 6 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and GoModl (“GoModl”, “we”, “us”). They apply to the gomodl website, the gomodl application at app.gomodl.com, every account on it (Always FREE accounts and modelling seats alike) and anything you make, download or export with it (together, the “Service”).
You accept these terms when you tick the box at sign-up, or by using the Service. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the Service. Please read section 9 (no service level agreement), section 10 (disclaimer) and section 11 (limitation of liability) carefully: they put the responsibility for checking and using the Service’s output on you.
1. Who the Service is for
gomodl is a professional tool for structural steelwork detailing and modelling. You confirm that you are at least 18, and that you use the Service for the purposes of your trade, business or profession. If you accept these terms for a company or firm, you confirm you are authorised to bind it, and “you” includes that company or firm.
2. The Service
The Service lets you model structural steel in your web browser, apply connection macros, produce drawings and fabrication files, import and export IFC files, issue frozen revisions and share them. It is under active development. Features may be added, changed or removed at any time, and the description on our website is a guide, not a promise that any particular feature will exist or keep working in a particular way.
An Always FREE account can view and download issued drawings and files. A modelling seat is needed to use the modelling canvas, macros and libraries. Modelling seats are currently enabled by us on request; prices are shown on the pricing page and apply only once paid billing opens and you agree to pay them.
3. Your account
- Give us accurate details and keep your password secret.
- A seat is for one named person. Do not share your login.
- You are responsible for everything done through your account.
- Tell us straight away at hello@gomodl.com if you think someone else has used it.
4. Intended use and scope
gomodl is a detailing and modelling aid. It is not structural design or analysis software. In particular:
- It does not check the strength, stability, capacity, deflection, fire resistance, corrosion protection or code compliance of any member, connection or structure.
- Connection macros build geometry from the parameters and shop configurations you choose. They do not verify that a connection is adequate, buildable or appropriate for the loads on it.
- The AI assistant can misread schedules, sketches and drawings and can suggest wrong sections, positions, levels or connections. Nothing it proposes is written to the model until you confirm it, and confirming it makes it your decision.
- Imported files (IFC, DXF, PDF and others) can be read incompletely or wrongly. Section matching, hole and bolt recognition, cut detection and node snapping on import are best effort.
- Model size limits, supported section families and supported connection types are set out on our website and in the application. Using the Service beyond them, or for any purpose other than steel detailing and modelling, is outside its intended scope.
The design of the structure, and the responsibility for it, stays with the engineer of record and with you. Use of the Service outside its intended scope, or in a way it was not designed for, is entirely at your own risk.
5. You must check everything the Service produces
Before you rely on any model, drawing, dimension, schedule, quantity, weight, surface area, piece mark, NC1/DSTV file, DXF, PDF, SVG or IFC file produced with the Service — for approval, procurement, cutting, drilling, fabrication, erection or any other purpose — you must have it checked by a suitably competent person against the engineer’s design and the project requirements. Output can contain errors, including errors caused by software defects, by your inputs, by third-party data, or by a change to the Service between two uses.
6. Your content
You keep ownership of the models, drawings, libraries, documents and other material you put into or create with the Service (“your content”). You give us a non-exclusive licence to store, copy, process and display your content only as needed to run the Service for you and the people you share it with.
You are responsible for your content: that you have the right to upload it (including drawings and schedules supplied by others), that it is lawful, and for any decision to share it. When you issue a freeze as Public it can be opened by anyone and is listed in the public gallery with its project, contract, client and company details and preview images; Unlisted and password freezes can be opened by anyone who has the link (and password). Others may download copies of what you share; we cannot recall them.
7. Acceptable use
You must not:
- use the Service for anything unlawful, or to upload anything you have no right to share;
- try to access other users’ accounts or content, or probe, scan or breach the Service’s security;
- copy, decompile or reverse engineer the Service except as the law expressly allows;
- overload, scrape or automate access to the Service in a way that degrades it for others;
- work around the model size limits, access controls or seat rules.
8. Third-party services
The AI assistant connects to AI providers you choose (for example Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, OpenRouter, or a model you run yourself) using API keys you supply. Your use of those providers is governed by their terms, you pay them directly, and we are not responsible for their availability, output, charges or handling of your data. The same applies to any other third-party software you use with files from the Service.
9. No service level agreement
We do not offer a service level agreement (SLA) at this stage. We make no commitment about availability, uptime, performance, response times, support, backups, data recovery or how long any feature will remain available. The Service may be unavailable, interrupted, slow, changed, suspended or withdrawn at any time, with or without notice, including for maintenance, updates or reasons outside our control.
Your content can be lost or corrupted. You are responsible for keeping your own copies — for example by downloading your model as an IFC file and saving the drawings and files you issue. Any support we give is goodwill, not an obligation.
10. Disclaimer
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we exclude all warranties, conditions, representations and terms, express or implied, including those of satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, reliability, non-infringement, and that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure or free of errors or defects. A plain-English summary is on the Disclaimer page.
11. Limitation of liability
11.1 Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law.
11.2 Subject to 11.1, GoModl accepts no liability whatsoever, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty, misrepresentation or otherwise, for any loss, damage, cost or expense of any kind arising out of or in connection with the Service or these terms, however it arises — including from using the Service correctly, incorrectly, or outside its intended scope. That includes, without limitation:
- errors or omissions in any model, drawing, dimension, quantity, schedule, mark or file;
- incorrectly cut, drilled, fabricated, delivered or erected steel, scrap, rework, remedial work or replacement materials;
- delay, disruption, liquidated damages, or claims made against you by clients, contractors or anyone else;
- loss of profit, revenue, business, contracts, opportunity, goodwill or anticipated savings;
- loss, corruption or disclosure of data or content;
- reliance on AI assistant output, imported data, or the output of any third-party service;
- unavailability, interruption, change or withdrawal of the Service;
- any indirect, special or consequential loss.
11.3 If, despite 11.2, we are found liable to you for anything, our total liability for all claims together is limited to the fees you actually paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. If you have paid nothing (for example on an Always FREE account, or before paid billing opens), that amount is nil.
11.4 You agree these limits are reasonable given the price of the Service, its stage of development, and the fact that you are responsible for checking its output before you use it.
12. Your responsibility to us
You will indemnify GoModl against any claim, loss, liability, cost or expense (including reasonable legal fees) brought by a third party or suffered by us arising from your content, your use of the Service or its output, your breach of these terms, or your breach of anyone else’s rights.
13. Suspension and closing your account
You can close your account at any time by emailing hello@gomodl.com. We may suspend or close an account, or remove content, if we reasonably believe these terms have been broken, to protect the Service or other users, or if we stop providing the Service. What happens to your data afterwards is set out in the Privacy & Data Retention Policy. Sections 4, 5 and 9 to 15 continue to apply after your account is closed.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Each version is dated at the top of this page. If a change is material we will tell you by email or in the application before it takes effect. If you keep using the Service after that, you accept the new terms; if you do not accept them, stop using the Service and close your account.
15. General
- These terms, together with the Privacy & Data Retention Policy, are the whole agreement between us about the Service.
- If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies, and that part applies to the greatest extent the law allows.
- If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not given it up.
- You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our written consent. We may transfer ours, for example to a company that takes over the Service.
- No one other than you and us has any right to enforce these terms.
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute about them.
