A seat that fits the work.

The authoring core is cloud native — modelling, portals, connections, IFC, and shop libraries, all in your browser rather than on a workstation. Named seats for fabricators and small shops. Annual plans include two months free.

Always FREE

For everyone else on the job

Public freezes open with no account. Downloading the issued files needs a free login — the engineer, client, or site manager signs up, no card, no time limit. No modelling canvas, no macros, no shop libraries.

  • View public freezes with no account
  • Download fabrication, fitting, and GA drawings — IFC, SVG, PDF
  • No modelling, no macros, no shop libraries

Later

Studio — for bigger teams, coming later

More named seats and shop-wide permissions. From £179 / month for six seats, once the collaboration layer is there. Studio is for bigger teams, not bigger jobs: the model size limit stays the same.

£179 / mo

Why these figures

Traditional detailing seats are a capital purchase. gomodl is cloud native (it opens in a browser tab) for shops that model smaller structures and cannot justify a dedicated workstation licence for occasional work. The prices below that reality — not a finished catalogue.

Cheap enough to try without a committee

£39 a month is less than an hour of a detailer’s time. A shop owner can put it on a card. That is the point — we are after people who currently do without, not people who already have a five-figure seat.

Dear enough that it is a real product

Free forever attracts tyre-kickers and shared logins. A modest price filters for people who will actually model steel, complain usefully, and stay when macros land.

Priced for the jobs we can do today

gomodl is built for sheds, portals, canopies, platforms and mezzanines: models up to 250 members. That limit is deliberate. You are not paying for a package built to swallow a thousand-piece plant job, and we are not trying to become one.

What the product can do today

Priced against the authoring core that exists now — not a promise of every macro in a twenty-year catalogue. Drawings and further macros are in flight.

3D authoring

Member and column placement, move / copy / mirror / rotate / array / stretch / trim, grids, levels and layers, END/MID/perpendicular/nearest and hole snaps, command prompt, orthographic views, unlimited undo.

Structure macros

Multi-bay portal frames with purlins, rails, gable frames, bracing and connections; handrail runs.

Connection macros

Rigid base plates, haunch eaves, apex moment plates, flexible end plates (beam-to-beam and beam-to-column), twin web cleats, fin plates, welded cranks, gusset bracing, stiffeners, shelf angles, purlin and rail cross attachments, padstones, masonry wall junctions and drilling groups. Each writes plates, bolts, and welds into the model.

Shop libraries

Bolts, welds, copes, wall buildups, and section profiles — standard data plus your own saved configs.

IFC as the file

IFC4 ADD2 STEP is the source of truth. Save, load, hand to another viewer, or bring another detailing package’s geometry in (as plates and bolts, not editable macros). No proprietary silo.

Drawings & issuance

Fabrication, fitting, shop-assembly and GA sheets, NC1 files for CNC, and revision freezes with registers and share links for approval or construction.

Licences

Named people, not a shared password.

Desktop steel software often ties a licence to a physical key. A browser cannot do that — and should not. You should be able to open the model at home, on site, or on a shop PC without moving a dongle.

The trade-off is obvious: a login can be pasted into a group chat. We will not pretend otherwise. Plans are named-user: one email, one person. Office and home on the same seat is expected. The whole shop on one Solo password is not.

When billing is live, each seat will allow a small number of concurrent sessions — enough for two browsers, not enough for five people. Extra Workshop seats will sit at £25 / month so buying another named user is cheaper than sharing.

Questions

What is the Always FREE tier, and how is it different from a named seat?

Always FREE is an account for anyone who needs to download drawings without modelling — a client, an engineer checking a design, someone on the shop floor. Public freezes open with no account; downloading the issued files needs this free login. It does not open the modelling canvas, run a macro, or touch a shop library — for that you need a Solo or Workshop seat.

Is this the final price?

These are the launch prices.

VAT?

Prices exclude VAT. UK VAT is added on the invoice.

Can I pay per project instead?

Yes — a project pass is planned at £149 per model for 90 days of authoring, for the person who details a couple of jobs a year. Annual Solo is the better deal from three jobs a year. Mention it on the form if that is you.

What is a named seat?

One person, one email, one login. You may use it from the office, home, or site — that is the point of being cloud native. You may not share the password with the rest of the shop. Workshop is three named people, each with their own login, sharing the shop library.

What happens if two people use the same login?

When billing is live, each seat will allow a small number of concurrent sessions (office + home is fine). A fifth person on the same password will knock someone else off. Extra named seats will be priced so buying one is cheaper than the faff of sharing. We will not use hardware dongles.

Why limit models to 250 members?

Because that is the work gomodl is for, and a clear limit is more honest than a vague one. It keeps the model quick in a browser on an ordinary office PC, and it keeps the product focused on small and medium jobs rather than chasing the big packages. The limit is the same on every plan.

What counts as a member, and what is a part?

Members are the main steel: beams, columns, rafters, bracing, purlins and rails. Parts are everything in the model, including the plates, cleats, end plates and brackets that connections add. A model can hold 250 members and 1,250 parts in total. Bolts are not counted. A fully cleated beam-and-column job averages four to five parts per member, so the two limits usually arrive together. Check a job against them before you start it.

Is there a service level agreement?

No, not at this stage. There is no guaranteed uptime, support response or data recovery, and the service can change or be unavailable without notice. Keep your own copies: download your model as IFC and save the files you issue. The Terms and Conditions set this out in full.

Who is responsible for checking the drawings?

You are. gomodl is a detailing tool, not structural design software: it does not check strength, stability or connection capacity, and everything it produces must be checked by a competent person before anything is ordered, cut or erected. GoModl accepts no liability for loss or damage arising from its use — see the disclaimer.

What is not ready?

A lot — and building it properly will take time. Still to come: structure macros for staircases, mezzanines, lean-tos, trusses and ladders; clash detection; curved and tapered members; cold-rolled libraries (Z and C purlins and rails); global profile libraries; an expanded component library; documentation and user guides; shared projects and team roles; paid billing. Modelling, portal and handrail macros, connection macros, fabrication and GA drawings, NC1 output, IFC import and export, freezes and the AI assistant are in. What people ask for decides what comes next.
