Product
Everything on this page is in the product now. gomodl is still under active development, so it keeps growing — and what is not built yet is listed at the bottom, not dressed up as a feature. Nothing here requires a Windows seat.

Beams, columns, rafters and bracing placed by picked points or typed coordinates, with roll, eccentricity, top-of-steel and end offsets.
Multi-bay duo-pitch portals in one dialog: stanchions, rafters, purlins, side rails, gable end frames, roof and wall bracing, and the eaves, apex and base connections applied for you.
Handrail and balustrade runs along a picked path, with posts and rails sized from your shop configuration.
Command prompt with absolute and relative input; END, MID, perpendicular, nearest, hole and bolt-centre snaps; ghost previews; measure; user co-ordinate systems; unlimited undo.
Move, copy, mirror, rotate, array, stretch, trim / extend and match properties. Fittings and connections travel with the steel they belong to.
Named grids and levels, each level with its own plan view range, plus layers for controlling what is shown on the canvas.
Rigid base plates, haunch and apex haunch joints, flexible end plates (beam-to-beam and beam-to-column), twin web cleats and fin plates (SCI P212 and P358 set-out), welded cranks, gusset bracing, stiffeners, shelf angles, purlin and rail cross attachments, padstones, masonry wall junctions and drilling groups.
Each macro runs from a saved shop standard — plate grade, bolt size, edge distances, weld sizes — so the shop’s way of doing it is the default.
Copes, mitres, cranked and compound cuts, plates, brackets, bolt groups and clearance holes, placed on a picked face and measured from the end of the steel.
Highlights every member end that meets other steel and still has no connection, and applies a connection to similar joints in one go.
Bolt assemblies built to ISO / BS dimensions with grip-based lengths, holding-down bolts, and weld specs that carry through to the drawings.
Bolts, welds, copes, wall build-ups and your own custom profiles and components, shared by every project.
UB, UC, PFC, equal and unequal angles, RHS, SHS, CHS, flats, rounds and squares.
IPE and HEA; WB and WC; W shapes. Further families are being added.
Add custom sections and library components (clips, cleats, gratings) in the Profile Library.
One sheet per piece: elevation, flange plans and end views in true third-angle projection, every hole dimensioned, blank shaft broken out to keep one scale, fittings drawn alongside.
Plates, cleats and brackets on their own sheets, and shop assemblies drawn as one fabricated unit.
General arrangements with grids, levels, node set-out dimensions and section call-outs, plus a base-plate details sheet.
PDF, SVG and IFC for every sheet, DXF for GAs, and NC1 / DSTV files for CNC saws and drills.
Colour, monochrome or presentation output, with an ink-saving option for shop prints.
Sheets are generated from the 3D model. If it is not in the model, it is not on the drawing.
The IFC file is the model. Download it at any time and open it in any IFC viewer.
One file holds the whole project: the saved IFC model plus the small amount gomodl keeps alongside it — project name and details, model settings and connection configurations — with every frozen revision and the library entries the model uses. Restoring always makes a new project.
Bring in IFC models from other detailing packages as geometry: members, plates, holes and bolts, with copes and end cuts recognised where they can be. Their connections arrive as plates and bolts, not editable gomodl macros, and welds do not come across.
Freeze a revision for approval or construction, with issue, drawing and RFI registers and named download packs.
Public, unlisted, password-protected or private. Public freezes appear in the gallery, and anyone can open a shared freeze in 3D without installing anything.
Raise RFIs and shop notes against parts of the model; they cloud the right views on the drawings and travel inside the IFC file.
Engineers, clients and the shop floor download issued files with a free account. No seat needed.
Attach a beam schedule, sketch or drawing set. The assistant reads it into a table for you to check, then places each member at the points you pick.
Every proposal waits for Confirm, and one undo takes the whole thing back.
Use your own API key with Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, OpenRouter and other providers, or a model running on your own machine.
There is still a lot to do, and building it properly will take time. This is what is on the list — what people ask for decides the order.
gomodl is a detailing tool, not structural design software — it does not check strength, stability or connection capacity. See the disclaimer.
